OVER THE TOP COAT RACKS!

 

I wouldn't be Me if I didn't include something political

 The backing for this piece are pieces of tongue and groove paneling from an old, old house torn down locally. While assembling and trying a new painting technique, I knew the pieces that I wanted to put on it. I found the hot rod and Route 66 sign several months ago and had been waiting for just the right board to come along. Those of my generation will have memories of these hot rods and Route 66.---$125.00

A true western look always begins with the boots. Add spurs and you know you are looking at a cowboy. A resin boot mounted on antique reclaimed bead board gives this a true "out on the range" look and feel.---$65.00

GIT IN THAT KITCHEN AND RATTLE THOSE POTS AND PANS! Those lyrics from an early rock 'n roll song just popped out at me when I found these old salesman samples used by traveling salesmen during the horse and buggy era. These happen to be Griswold brand.---$75.00

Remember the old porcelain faucets knobs of your grandparents era? I thought this would make the coolest bathroom rack around. You will be the only kid on the block with this one. The knobs are hard to find making this one more pricey than I would have liked.-----$75.00

Still more antique barn wood with a story to tell. My thoughts on this rack was that the Indians smoked the peace pipe with the White Man and we still left them with millions of buffalo skulls in return.---$65.00

These stars are made of triangles of wood found at a construction site. After a few minutes of playing around, suddenly stars appeared! I painted these several years ago and lost them in the basement. They have now risen to become a combination towel ring and tack hooks. This would dress up any barn, back door kitchen, mud-room, etc.---$45.00

These three horses are running free on a piece of 175 year old barn wood. Four large hooks to hold the bulkiest coat make this a rack for that 'call of the wild'.--$65.00

This beautiful horse is resin on a barn board from a barn built in 1832. I "washed" the wood with several colors of paint to achieve this look. I have modern plywood backing to make this piece last a lifetime---$75.

This has to be one of the most chilling coat racks that I have ever made. I wanted it to tell a story and does. Of course you can see the slave chains on the board and jail keys hanging off one of the hooks, but look closely above the chain, to the little piece of metal. It is called a slave tag, or a license to do business outside the master's home in Charleston, SC. It had to be worn around the neck at all times when working on your assigned job in the city. The only living thing that must wear a tag today is a dog!---$450.00

This is MUSTANG SALLY! That was the name that just popped out as I was putting it together. The bridge is an old Mustang door handle. The Mustang gas cap serves as the sound hole. The custom made head is that of a running, free spirit mustang. The tuning pegs are spark plugs. It is totally whimsical--$125

This coat rack is about the size of a standard guitar. It is made with bead board with a bead board star attached. A western belt added makes this look like a real "Lone Star" piece. This was one of my most time consuming projects.---$125
